British Baseball Federation signs up to Development Charter

Today, BaseballSoftballUK (BSUK) and the British Baseball Federation (BBF) has announced that the BBF has signed up to the Development Charter. Today’s step comes following a number of productive conversations between the Board of the BBF and BSUK’s Senior Management.

By signing up to the BaseballSoftballUK Development Charter, the British Baseball Federation, as well as all of its member clubs, are now able to access all of BSUK’s development resources, including BSUK’s NSPCC recognised and regulated safeguarding resources for the sport of baseball. In addition, the BBF and its member clubs are able to work with BSUK’s relationship managers and access support and resources to help them become stronger, safer, and more sustainable.
Today’s announcement is an important step in progressing the positive relationship between the BBF and BSUK, and BSUK looks forward to supporting the Federation and its members as further discussions take place.
BSUK CEO John Boyd added, "Today's announcement ensures that there is a consistent and standardised approach to baseball development for all baseball clubs in this country. Whether played in Cornwall, London, Manchester, Cardiff or Edinburgh, baseball now has a single, recognised and regulated safeguarding system. For this reason, we very much welcome the BBF into the Development Charter."
The Development Charter was launched in August 2020 - exactly one year ago today - to support for baseball and softball clubs around the UK. The Charter is a mechanism for any club or league to access development and safeguarding services from BaseballSoftballUK. Signing up to the Charter is free of charge, and all clubs within the British Softball Federation are automatically enrolled. More than 90% of all baseball and softball clubs in the United Kingdom have signed up to the Charter so far.
