Introduction to the Development Charter
Welcome to the Development Charter online hub where you will find all the information and support specially curated to enable your baseball or softball club/league to become safer, stronger and sustainable.
The background
The Charter is a mechanism for any club or league to access development and safeguarding services from BaseballSoftballUK (BSUK). Central to our Two Sports, One Ambition Strategy, the Charter is at the heart of our strategic priority to provide ‘efficient grassroots support services’. Through the Charter, BaseballSoftballUK will support you to become a safer, stronger and more sustainable grassroots organisation, connected to - and an important part of - your local community. Through a dedicated relationship manager, each organisation signed up to the Charter can access the expertise on offer from BaseballSoftballUK through the staff team and our resources. Signing up to the Charter is free of charge.
At the heart of the Development Charter is the support and guidance from your BaseballSoftballUK relationship manager. They will take you through a planning conversation to identify key development priorities. You will also receive priority access to BSUK Development Programmes.

Working directly with our staff team, you will be able to access advice and guidance in the following areas and more:
- Relationship building and connectivity with local networks
- Club/league management
- Recruitment of players
- Facility and field development
- Coach education
- Youth development
- Fundraising and grant applications
- Safeguarding – including a free DBS checking service
Accessing the Charter
Signing up to the Development Charter is free of charge to any organisation. All affiliated clubs (to the British Softball Federation and British Baseball Federation) will be enrolled through their membership to the Development Charter. Clubs and leagues which are unaffiliated will need to actively sign up to the Charter through a simple application form, in which a formal commitment to adhere to the baseball/softball safeguarding standards will be made.
