COVID-19
There is a lot for baseball and softball officials to consider as the safety measures around the COVID-19 virus change and evolve so here are some helpful resources.
Return to Play
BaseballSoftballUK has put together comprehensive guidance on helping leagues, clubs, teams and event organisers return to play, available on the Return to Play area of our website. This guidance complies with the Government requirements and advice for community team sports.
Re-opening
There are also various other toolkits available to help clubs and league get back up and running as efficiently and safely as possible, such as the Sport England Club Matters website.
Volunteers have a vital role to play in helping to ensure the safe return of our sports. Some of these volunteers will be taking on completely new roles like that of the ‘COVID Officer’. Ensuring a safe and supportive environment to encourage volunteers to re-engage and offer their time will be important in baseball and softball’s return to play. Check out further considerations on the Sport England website.
Mental health
The COVID-19 lockdown will have affected each person differently. On top of that, the gradual easing of these restrictions and the return to sport is likely to bring a mixed range of feelings, from excitement at being able to get back to team sport and socialising, to possible anxiety around things like safe travel to practices and games, and getting used to mixing with larger groups of people again. We can share guidance from mental health charities to help support clubs and league members during this time.
