READ: Remembering Peter Wilkinson

It is with great sadness that we were informed of Peter Wilkinson's passing earlier this week. Peter was a stalwart of the Manchester Softball Community, founding the Mossley Mayhem in 2008 and helping to welcome softballers from across the Manchester region, regardless of race, background, sexual orientation or ability.

Luis Arrevillagas, BSUK's North West Development Manager, remembered Peter, saying, "Peter was a motivation for all of us wanting to grow sports and help people in general to have fun and be active. Peter was my first work-meeting when I joined BSUK, he was really charismatic and he only had people's well being in mind. I'm incredibly sad to have lost such a fantastic ambassador."

The Mayhem and Thunder 3 held a moment of silence and a minute's applause in honour of Peter before their game on Tuesday.

Luis Arrevillagas is the North West Development Manager for BaseballSoftballUK. Born in Merseyside, he moved to Venezuela when he was two years old and grew up playing baseball from a young age. Luis moved back to Manchester after finishing university in 1997, and completed a PGCE and taught Languages until 2007. He has been working for BaseballSoftballUK since 2008. Luis has played baseball and slowpitch softball for a number of British clubs and teams and was part of the first Team Europe men’s slowpitch team to compete against the USA and Canada in the 2014 Border Battle. Luis is a qualified European slowpitch umpire and also runs an Under-8 tennis team and helps coach at his local Rugby Union club.
